A threat — yes. A significant rival? No, not yet. As with any adoption, even with singularity- level speed, there will be decades of entrenchment for current system players.

Watch a semi-niche industry like the tablet point-of-sale system market struggle to reflect the seeming demand and you realize how slow change can be, even with all the tools in place.

Disruption potential was never met over the course of what is now nearly a decade of a clearly differentiated playing field, with Micros and other old names holding onto the majority of their current user base, and continuing to retain them.

Like the crypto game being played currently, established players will find ways to survive or adapt or at least prolong their life.

Culture and mindset are human-limited variables operating outside much of the logic of offered technology and access.
